The Biggest Enemy of Task Completion
Updated: Sep 7, 2020
Practice makes perfect, but perfect never gets the job done. The biggest enemy you'll face when trying to complete a task is p-e-r-f-e-c-t-i-o-n. The truth? We will never fully arrive. There will always be things to improve upon. One of the key terms we use at ProAdvisorCoach is CANI - Constant And Never-ending Improvement. When you embrace tasks with the attitude that you'll always be a work in progress, you take away the immense pressure of perfection. You dramatically increase the odds that you'll finish what you started.

Completion stops dead in its tracks when perfection steps in. Perfection nags at us. You can't finish this on unless you fix, adjust, move, know and fully comprehendall of the things. While the opposite of this is the idea that 'anything goes'. Hear me say loud and clear - your effort matters. Quality matters. Do your best, always. Simply, don't let the fact that you're human keep you from finishing your good work. If we enter into our schedules, days, goals, tasks and projects already knowing that there will be improvements that can be made along the way or after the fact - we've removed the pressure to perform perfectly.
We've already acknowledged the human in the room. That human is us.Embrace today knowing that perfect isn't the goal. Finish first, then work on improvements.
Smacking Perfection In The Face,
